GRAZIANO CHESSA

Graziano Chessa has been in touch with his passion for coffee for a long time. It all goes back to Sardinia, where he managed a bar/restaurant with two friends and his family, and set up a catering and event company in the tourism sector. He has lived and worked as an international barista in Germany since the early 1990s.

An opportunity opened up to prove his passion and coffee expertise at barista contests, and his wish to stay involved in the world of coffee and speciality coffees came true with the certified coffee sommelier.

As a member of the SCAE (Speciality Coffee Association of Europe), Graziano Chessa became a certified Barista trainer. Today, he takes part in international Barista championships as a judge.

Bern in Switzerland

The best barista in the world goes by the name of Klaus Thomsen and won for Denmark at the World of Coffee event in Bern. Some forty baristas competed in front of an enthusiastic audience to prepare four espressos, cappuccinos and signature coffees (own creations with coffee) each in the space of 15 minutes. An international panel of judges picked Denmark’s Thomsen as the winner, followed by Sammy Piccolo from Canada in second and Matthew Riddle from the US in third place.

The 2007 World Barista Championship will be held in Tokyo.
